India registered a thumping victory against Bangladesh on Sunday at the Eden Gardens in the iconic D/N Test. Pacer Umesh Yadav’s five-wicket haul steered the hosts to the victory by an innings and 46 runs. Ishant Sharma clinched the man of the match as well as player of the series trophy. This was also India’s 4th innings win on the bounce, taking their winning streak to seven matches.

After India embraced the pink-ball D/N Test against the ‘Tigers’ on Friday, Cricket Australia is also in talks with BCCI to include at least one D/N Test in the series. It will be interesting to see how BCCI, under the new presidency of Sourav Ganguly, will comprehend Cricket Australia’s tour schedule preferences.

Meanwhile, Australia also swept Pakistan in the first Test match at the Gabba. Tim Paine and his troops registered the victory by an innings and 5 runs. In his post-match presentation after the triumph, Paine had taken a sly dig at Kohli, saying that a day-night Test between India and Australia next year will depend on Virat Kohli. Paine had also added that Australia will have to take ‘Kohli’s permission’ for playing at the Gabba or for the day-night Test.

“We’ll certainly try [to start at the Gabba] but we’ll have to run that by Virat. As I said we’ll ask Virat, see if we can get his permission to play here. Maybe even get a pink-ball Test, if he’s in a good mood,” Paine had said.

Virat Kohli has said that India are ready for anything

The Indian skipper has finally responded to Paine’s dig in style and has said that his team is ready for anything. Following the game against Bangladesh, Kohli made it clear that India would not hesitate in playing with pink-ball if they get a ‘good practice game’.

“There has to be planning for a pink-ball game. We’re playing in home conditions, but if you ask the Bangladesh team, they’d have also liked a practice game,” said the Indian skipper post the match.

Maybe when we play away from home we will figure out what could be even more difficult while playing with the pink ball. I think with a good practice game before that and enough time to prepare, we’re open to doing anything. You can’t just play it on short notice like I mentioned last time,” he further said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
