Team India annihilated Sri Lanka in their own backyard 3-0 in the recently concluded Test series and registered their first ever whitewash away from home. This was also the 8th consecutive Test series win for the Men in Blue and are yet to lose a series since Virat Kohli took over the reins permanently.

The skipper has finally revealed the secret behind the team’s humongous success. He has revealed that the team believes in playing as a unit and there is no demarcation of a senior or junior player. Kohli feels that is one major reason the team has been dominating the world cricket in recent times.

“In this team, we are more like a bunch of friends playing together rather than a senior or a junior,” Kohli said after the end of the Test series in Pallekele.

Kohli as captain in Tests

The 28-year-old has already had an illustrious career as a captain and has surpassed MS Dhoni as far as away victories are concerned. MS Dhoni led India in 60 Tests and managed to win only 6 Tests outside India. On the other hand, Kohli has already won 7 Tests away from home in 29 matches he has captained.

Sourav Ganguly leads the chart with 11 wins on foreign soil in 49 Tests as captain, Kohli, soon might become the most successful leader overseas if India continues their rich vein of form as they are due to travel overseas in 2018 starting with the South Africa tour in January.

The Indian team completed a comprehensive series whitewash over Sri Lanka in the 3-match Test series which included 2 victories by an innings. Indian batsmen also managed over 450 runs in each of the 3 matches in the first innings and also went on to muster 600+ totals twice. Team India, with a virtue of this performance, have strengthened their position at the top of the table with 125 points and extending their lead to 15 points over South Africa who are second.
