The Virat Kohli led Indian team is having a great time in Sri Lanka both on the field and off the field. After beating the hosts in the 2nd Test at Colombo and taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series, the Indian team definitely needed some rest and off time. Therefore, the boys took an off on Monday and were seen enjoying their time off the field.

Indian team skipper Virat Kohli scored a century in the second innings of the first Test, but didn’t have a good outing in the 2nd Test at Colombo. He posted a photo after the match from his hotel room which was captioned, “Day off means hit the sack”. However, the skipper sacrificed his bed-time and went on to party with his teammates Dhawan, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.

Enjoyment with the boys

Indian team opener Shikhar Dhawan posted a picture on twitter of him and other players like Rahul, Kohli and Pandya, enjoying the time off the field at a dinner. The picture supported a perfect caption which read, “Enjoying d nite with d boys @imVkohli @hardikpandya7 @klrahul11.”

His fellow opener KL Rahul was not far behind in sharing pictures on the social media. He also posted a picture with the team support staff with the caption that read, “Team work makes dream work. With them boys! #HappyDinner”.

Sealing the series

Indian team skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat. The visitors went on to register a mammoth total of 622-9 before declaring in the first innings in which Cheteshwar Pujara (133) and Ajinkya Rahane (132) scored convincing tons. The hosts couldn’t put up a significant fight in the first innings as they were bowled out for a paltry total of 183 runs. With a lead of more than 400 runs in his bag, skipper Virat Kohli chose to enforce the follow-on.

However, the Sri Lankan showed some composure and fighting spirit for the first time in the series during the second innings with the bat. But with the wicket taking a lot of turn, it was only a matter of time before things went down for the hosts. The Lankans were bowled out for 386 runs on the 4th day of the Test match after some fighting resurrection showed by opener Dimuth Karunaratne (147) and middle order-batsman Kusal Mendis (110).

The teams certainly deserve some rest and warm-up before the 3rd and the final Test match at Pallekele on Saturday. After the final Test, the two teams are scheduled to face in a 5-match ODI series, followed by a solitary T20 game.
