Virat Kohli spends some quality time with India teammates and wife Anushka Sharma

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, hasn’t had the best of times of late. He has been straining a wee bit with the bat and has succumbed to some failures as the national skipper as well. In the ODI series against New Zealand, the 31-year-old started with a half-century at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. However, he got out to leg-spinner Ish Sodhi after he was looking good to carry on.
In the second and third match in Auckland and Mount Maunganui, the Delhi-born couldn’t score big. To add insult to injury, India lost the series 3-0, which happened to be their first series defeat in 2020. Prior to the 50-over format, the Men in Blue got the better of the Black Caps in the T20I series, winning it 5-0 after the matches in Hamilton and Wellington went into the Super Over.
Virat having some tough times
Virat’s bat hasn’t done much of a talking either. Kohli is known as someone, who convert his starts more often than not. However, that wasn’t the case in the recent games. He now has a bit of a break before India’s two-match Test series against the Kiwis. The opening Test gets underway on Friday, February 21 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington followed by the one in Christchurch.
India have won seven out of their seven matches in the World Test Championship, garnering 360 points. In their last series, India rolled over Bangladesh by 2-0, including the Day-Night pink-ball Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Apart from the Tigers, Virat’s India also beat South Africa and the West Indies in the longest format. The Indian pacers played key role in those triumphs.
In the meantime, amidst the chock-a-block schedule, Kohli is busy chilling out and getting himself refreshed. He spent a day off at the scenic Blue Springs in Putaruru. He was there along with wife Anushka Sharma, also a Bollywood actress, and fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Navdeep Saini.
A picture of them hanging out together was shared by Shami on Instagram. Both Saini and Shami are part of the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series.
