Virat Kohli supports Rohit Sharma's cause to stop illegal poaching
The campaign also includes the likes of Rohit Sharma and Kevin Pietersen.
Save Our Rhinos Africa India (SORAI) is an initiative that is striving to put a full stop to illegal poaching of animals and to save them from extinction. Several cricketers are associated with the campaign which includes the likes of Indian opener Rohit Sharma and former England captain Kevin Pietersen. Recently, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, has also joined the noble cause.
Kohli, who is currently leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), mentioned the association as a privilege for him. The 29-year-old also requested his supporters to donate to the cause mentioning ‘animals need our help’. He took to Instagram and posted a picture where he is seen flaunting a red armband of SORAI along with a message which read
“I’m very completely satisfied to help @sorai2018 of their aim to cease the unlawful poaching of our lovely animals”
Here is Virat Kohli’s post on Instagram
Quite expectantly, SORAI was delighted by the gesture of Virat Kohli and they replied him with a delightful message which read
“Thank you @virat.kohli you beauty!”
Kohli’s love and affinity for animals is an open secret. He has been an owner of a number of dogs over the years. Moreover, he has also supported the promotion of adopting them through posts in the social media platforms. From the cricketing perspective, he has been going through a difficult phase as RCB have strained to show consistency.
Nevertheless, they have managed to beat the Delhi Daredevils in their previous game at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. AB de Villiers pulled them out of a precarious situation and guided them to their second win in five games. The franchise is currently in the sixth position in the league. Kohli has also played a couple of useful hands for his side.
