Virat Kohli is an animated character when he’s plying his trade on the cricket pitch. The Delhi-born cricketer never shies away from expressing himself, a nature which has earned him a lot of criticism. But Kohli has managed to remain oblivious to the chaos and has continued to weave his magic. He recently became India’s most successful captain in Test cricket, surpassing MS Dhoni.

However, outside the field of play, Virat is known for his humble and grounded attitude. He has often been seen giving away autographs to his fans from the boundary lines. Recently, he was involved in a heart-warming gesture. In a video that has been going viral on social media platforms, the 30-year-old Virat was seen taking an autograph from a seven-year-old supporter.

Virat Kohli’s heartfelt gesture

It took place in Jamaica, where Kohli and his men beat the West Indies in the second Test at the Sabina Park. In the clip, the young fan went up to the Indian captain and asked him if he wanted his autograph instead. Virat was then heard saying, “Hold on! I want his autograph,”

Virat was awestruck by the fan’s autograph. “Woah, look at that! Nice,” Kohli said once the kid gave him the autograph. Kohli was accompanied by Anushka Sharma, his wife to whom he has been married since December 2017. The video was uploaded by the kid’s uncle.

The gentleman captioned the clip and wrote, “My 7 year old nephew, who is in Jamaica, caught @imVkohli off-guard when he went up to him and told him “would you like my autograph instead?”. Stopped in his tracks and indulged him. Anushka too.”

As far as action on the pitch is concerned, Virat has every reason to cheer. After India’s 2-0 triumph over the Caribbean team, Virat’s men went to the top of the table in the ICC World Test Championship with 120 points. India are next scheduled to play South Africa in a T20I series.

Virat was recently toppled by Australian batsman Steve Smith in the ICC’s rankings for Test batsman. The Indian captain has moved down to the second spot after bagging duck in the second innings of the last Test where Kemar Roach got rid of him.
