Virat Kohli thanks the supporters for backing RCB despite lacklustre performance
RCB could only manage 3 wins out of 14 encounters in the season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore who was the finalists of IPL 9 had a forgettable outing this time around as they finished the league stage at the bottom of the points table. They only won 3 out of the 14 matches and to make their matter worse all the 3-star batsmen Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle all failed to gel as a unit which reflected in their performance.
Kohli was left scratching his head for answers after each and every match and it was pretty strange for Kohli who had won everything which came his way till then. Despite trying hard, RCB failed to click as a unit and eventually finished the season with 7 points. Barring a few innings from Virat Kohli and a couple from de Villiers and Gayle respectively, the batting order has looked below par which was the reason behind their disappointing campaign.
Almost 4 days after bowing out of the tournament with a win against the Delhi Daredevils in their final match, RCB captain Kohli took to his twitter handle and thanked all his fans and supporters for supporting his franchise all through this season despite their lacklustre performance. In the video, he said that RCB tried every possible way to perform better but nothing worked but Kohli was greatful that despite their woeful performance, the supporters were still backing them.
Humbled by the love and support: Virat Kohli
Kohli’s caption in the video read, “Really humbled by all the love and support that we got this season. We will come back stronger next season.” It was testing time for Kohli and his team especially after their tremendous campaign in the previous season. Meanwhile, Kohli is all set to lead the national team in the upcoming Champions Trophy where India will be the defending champions.
India won the coveted title in 2013 by defeating hosts England by 5 runs in a rain-curtailed 20 over clash. India was unbeaten all through the tournament including the warm up matches and they would look to repeat their performance this time around.
