Virat Kohli the only cricketer in top-10 earners from Instagram in COVID-19 lockdown
The 31-year-old is sixth on the list as per reports.
Virat Kohli, the skipper of the Indian national cricket team, reportedly, is the only cricketer in the world’s top-10 list of highest earning sportsperson through sponsored Instagram posts during the lockdown phase. The coronavirus pandemic has made a lot of ruckus in most parts of the world and it’s been over a couple of months since the lockdown came into place.
As far as Kohli is concerned, he is sixth on the list and the figures were collected by ‘Attain’ during the period between March 12 and May 14. As per reports, the 31-year-old earned a total of 3,79,294 pounds through the sponsored posts. It translates to around a stunning 1,26,431 pounds per post. Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal footballer, tops the list with earnings of 1.8 million pounds.
As per Outlook, Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Brazil’s Neymar are second and third in the list with earnings of 1.2 million and 1.1 million respectively. Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal (583,628 pounds) and former England captain David Beckham (405,359 pounds are the others in top five.
Zlatan Ibrahimović, the Swedish footballer (184,413 pounds), Dwayne Wade, the former National Basketball Association (NBA) star (143,146), Dani Alves, the Brazilian footballer (133,694) and boxer Anthony Joshua (121,500) are the other sports personalities in the top 10.
Virat Kohli grabbing the limelight
Virat was last seen on the field during India’s away Test series against New Zealand that they lost 0-2. Kohli had a horrendous series where he got out to fast bowlers. He was a part of India’s ODI series against South Africa, but it couldn’t go on due to the massive COVID-19 outbreak around the globe. He was set to take part for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, the league had to be postponed for an indefinite time period. Even as there’s no cricket, Kohli has been doing the rounds on social media. He came on Instagram Live with former South Africa batsman AB de Villiers. He also chatted with Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal.
Amidst all his commitments, Virat has been spending some quality time with wife Anushka Sharma as well. A few days ago, he was also seen, playing cricket with his 32-year-old spouse in the terrace.
