The Indian skipper, much due to his success on the cricket field has become a global brand in the world of sports. The man with a Midas touch is a popular fan figure not just in India, but even across the globe that makes him a renowned figure even on the Social media platform.
Fourth in the hookit rankings for Social media interactions
His exploits on the field are very well accompanied by his rising stocks in the commercial world. As one of the most recent results, he rose to the fourth spot in the hookit rankings for most Social media interactions, bagging a jump of four positions in the list released in the month of March. The global list, like most of the sports ranking charts, is spearheaded by Cristiano Ronaldo, who with 136.8 million interactions holds an unassailable lead.
Basketball icon LeBron James (76.2 million) is in the second position followed by Tyler Blevins (66.7 mn), courtesy some rapidly growing fan following of eSports. Then comes Virat Kohli with 52 million social media interactions in March, the only cricketer to feature in the top 10 of the list. Football’s global icons in Lionel Messi, Neymar da Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Ramos follow the Indian skipper in that order.
Indian Cricketers ruling the world
There’s no other country that can boast to have its cricketers in this prestigious list. After Kohli, his deputy in Limited-overs, Rohit Sharma acquires the 41st position with 44 million interactions in the list, which also has Sachin Tendulkar in the 52nd position as the third cricketer on the chart.
The highest followed cricketer, Kohli has 37,215,960 followers on Facebook, 24,121,299 on twitter and 20,136, 573 on Instagram. Ronaldo is followed by 122,447,202 fans on Facebook alone. The biggest football brand has 71,554,975 and 123,235,626 fans hooked to his twitter and Instagram accounts respectively.
Sachin still enjoys a better fan following on twitter (28,087,345) than any other cricketer, with 28,794,589 and 9,543,080 fans following him on Facebook and Instagram respectively.
