Virat Kohli turns throw-down specialist to help Rishabh Pant in the nets ahead of Day 2

Cheteshwar Pujara(130*) and Hanuma Vihari(39*) were on strike at Stumps Day 1. Pujara looked at his prime form with his third century of the series coming up. The next Indian batsman in the queue for Day 2 was Rishabh Pant. He hit the nets on the Sydney Cricket Ground in the morning, just before the start of play of Day 2. Having been dismissed at 23, Kohli shifted his focus from his own batting to his young and nascent teammate. Virat Kohli turned throw-down specialist and bowled to Pant in the nets.

Virat Kohli has suddenly grown in character, as he has chosen to let his much-criticized “aggression” take a backseat. Even during the initial stages of the series, there were several backlashes on social media about Kohli’s behavior. But 2018 ended differently. Over the years, Kohli has almost always taken the burden of taking the team to victory, often single-handedly. This time Pujara has taken the burden off him and is the highest run-scorer of the series so far. Kohli stands third, as Pant has now taken over him with respect to the number of runs scored in this series. Pant’s unbeaten 159 exhibited immense disposition and confidence. Kohli is certainly proud as he was a part of Pant’s nets session in the morning before play.

The Indian Cricket Team as visitors have only one throwdown expert, Raghavendra, to help batsmen at the nets. Captain Virat Kohli decided to join the staff in the nets to do some throwdown in order to assist them. The Indian skipper took charge of equipping Rishabh Pant for his big innings. In this process, he also helped out the throwdown specialist.
