Virat Kohli urges fans to support Team India and not individual players
Sinha also praised the team for their performance and pinned hopes on India to make a comeback at the 'Mecca of Cricket.
The Indian team may have lost the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, however, the mood in the Indian camp is upbeat ahead of the second Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, starting tomorrow. In the previous match, India not only had the chance to win their first match at the venue but also become the first team from the subcontinent to defeat England in Test crickets at Edgbaston.
Virat Kohli played a couple of blinders with the willow, but it wasn’t sufficient to guide India over the finishing line. The visiting team has had a number of memorable moments at Lord’s and they would be keen to give the Brits a run for their money. Out of 17 Tests at the venue, India have won only two of them and the task won’t be a cakewalk by any means for them.
We as a team love playing with each other
In the meantime, Kohli attended a gathering of business tycoons, senior diplomats at a reception hosted by the Indian High Commissioner to the UK Y K Sinha at his London residence as per reports in The Times of India (TOI). He was accompanied by Anushka Sharma, his better half. During the event, he asked the fans to support the national team instead of rooting for individual players.
“We as a team love playing with each other and play with a lot of passion. I would just say to the fans to support the whole team because we all are giving our best efforts and we all want to win together. It’s not about individuals or one or two players, it’s about Team India together and that’s the passion everyone should carry off the field as well,” Kohli mentioned.
Sinha also praised the team for their performance and pinned hopes on India to make a comeback at the ‘Mecca of Cricket. “The whole team has played very well. We lost (the first Test), but we lost narrowly. And, I am confident that at Lord’s, the Mecca of Cricket, we will win and go on to win the series,” he remarked.
