Virat Kohli’s abysmal run with the bat is no secret to the world and the former Indian skipper’s place in the squad is also being questioned. The Indian star recently made rounds on social media after he stated that he felt lonely even in a room full of people while stating the importance of mental health. His manager Bunty Sajdeh has responded to the stylish batter’s claims, saying that he also gets his strength from being surrounded by people who love him.

The former Indian skipper is under tremendous pressure to regain his form for the national side and last scored a century for the Indian team over 1000 days ago. But Kohli’s manager reckons in the latest interview that every athlete goes through a rough patch during their career and Kohli is amidst the same.

He also commented on Virat’s remarks on depression and said that the veteran batter is fully aware of that term and it should not be used too loosely. He also mentioned that the ace batter will never feel alone when he is around people who love and support him.

“The representation of a severe condition like depression is very well understood by Virat. He’s spoken openly on the mental challenges of playing the sport at the highest level and he hasn’t shied away from admitting them. Having said that, he’s mentioned that he’s experienced mental challenges at only a certain stage in his career,” said Bunty, in a chat with The Times of India.

“Virat, for one, will never feel alone when he’s around people who love and support him. That’s where he got his mental strength from. Every top athlete has gone through the mental challenges of dealing with pressures and expectations that come with the positions they are at. Depression is too big and significant a term to be used so loosely.”

‘I personally have experienced times when even in a room full of people who support and love me: Virat Kohli

Bunty’s comments come in the wake of Virat Kohli’s earlier interview where he revealed experiencing loneliness even when surrounded by people who love and support him. He advised people to take time out for themselves, aiming to reconnect with the inner self.

“I personally have experienced times when even in a room full of people who support and love me, I felt alone, and I am sure that this is a feeling that a lot of people can relate to. So, take out time for yourself and reconnect with your core self,” the former India captain had said.
