Team India prominent batter Virat Kohli has wished luck to the Women in Blue team taking part in the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG). The 33-year-old also gave his best wishes to all other Indian athletes taking part in the mega event. CWG 2022 will commence today (28 July) and the event will conclude on August 8.

Team India will face a strong challenge in the form of Australia Women who have already won a World Cup this year and will want to bag the gold medal at the CWG 2022. Team India under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur will also want to give a strong statement by winning their first match.

Virat Kohli took to Twitter to give his wishes to Indian Women’s team

“My best wishes to the Indian women’s cricket team and all our athletes participating in the Commonwealth Games,” Kohli wrote on Twitter.

Talking more about the India match against Australia, the encounter will take place in Birmingham with the Women in Yellow starting as favorites. Team India also has strong bowling and well as batting line-up with the likes of Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur trying to give their best against a strong Australia bowling line-up.

Talking about Australia’s batting players like Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, and Tahlia McGrath, they will try to dominate the Indian bowling line-up and will want to start well during the field restrictions. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper has also shown confidence and said that they are eyeing a medal, but the Indian fans are hoping for a gold medal from the Women in Blue.

“This tournament is very important for us. This time we are playing for a medal. If I speak about myself, we have grown watching these kind of tournaments and we are glad that we are also getting an opportunity, we will be part of a big event,” Harmanpreet said before taking flight for England.
