Virat Kohli would not have scored these many runs had he been soft like MS Dhoni: Harbhajan Singh

Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batters of the modern era. The Indian Test skipper has scored 70 international hundreds, and averages over 50 in all 3 formats of the game.

Kohli has also led the Indian Test side with aplomb, as India recorded their first-ever Test series win in Australia and also reached the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) under Kohli’s leadership.

And Indian spin bowling great Harbhajan Singh has lauded Kohli for his aggressive approach. Harbhajan also added that under Kohli, the Indian side always looks to win a Test match.

“It suits perfectly actually and we need players like him in the team to can take the team forward. When team used to go to Australia, they used to think about how to save the Test match. In Virat’s captaincy, team goes to Australia thinking how they can win the Test series,” said Harbhajan Singh as quoted by The Hindustan Times.

Harbhajan Singh also added that the Indian Test side has beaten Australia in the kangaroos’ backyard while they also played extremely well in England under Kohli’s stewardship. Adding that Kohli has played his role as the leader to perfection, Harbhajan concluded by stating that if Kohli had been soft like MS Dhoni, the 33-year-old would not have scored the number of runs that he has in his career.

“And that is the change you have noticed in this Indian side. They went to Australia and beat them twice, they played well in England and I hope they beat South Africa in this series. So Kohli has perfectly played his role as a leader. And the aggressive approach, that has made Virat Kohli the player he is today. Had he been soft like MS Dhoni, I don’t think he would have scored these many runs,” concluded Harbhajan Singh.
