Legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has praised Virat Kohli and said that the 28-year-old’s aggressive attitude and consistent performances have changed his fellow teammates in the Indian dressing room for good. Initially, Kohli’s much talked about aggression found him at the receiving end but the Indian skipper has changed it for good.
Tendulkar echoed the same thought and said that many criticized Kohli for his aggressive approach while playing the game during the start of his career, but the same approach has earned him numerous wins and prolific performances at home and abroad.
Strength of the Indian team
“Virat Kohli hasn’t changed much since he got into the team, but people around him have changed. And his attitude has changed only because of his performances and consistency.”
“I noticed that spark and aggression in him , something which many guys were not fond of to be very honest. And there were many guys who were criticizing him for that. And today that has become the strength of the Indian team,” said Tendulkar speaking an event in the city.
Freedom without crossing the line: Tendulkar
Tendulkar believes that it is important for the players to have that amount of freedom to express themselves without crossing the line. “And I think it is extremely crucial for a player to have that freedom to express himself in the middle. And some of these guys need to be given the freedom as long as they don’t cross the line because it brings the best out of them,” said Tendulkar.
Kohli scored his 31st hundred against New Zealand in the 1st ODI of the 3-match series in Mumbai recently and he is currently just next to Tendulkar in the all-time list of players with most hundreds in ODIs. India lost the opening match by 6 wickets and the visitors are leading the series by a 1-0 margin.
