"After the continuous rain of two days, there shouldn't have been two spinners playing," the source close the group said.

Ever since Team India has succumbed to a heavy defeat at Lord’s, they have been subjected to continuous criticism. If performances of the batsmen aren’t good enough, even the team selection from Virat Kohli has been odd. The decision of playing Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test left everyone bamboozled even as their opponents included Chris Woakes looking at the overcast conditions.

There is no question that the punt backfired very badly as there was nothing in the wicket for the spinners with even Ravi Ashwin struggling. Moreover, Adil Rashid didn’t even bowl a single delivery in the 82.2 overs England bowled at India. After a hefty loss of an innings and 159 runs, questions are being raised about Team India’s approach and the role of coaches in team selection is also under the scanner.

Even in the press conference, the players were heard saying, ” It’s a decision of the team management,” when asked about the chinaman’s inclusion in the team.

Nobody asked the curator

According to the reports in the Times of India, the source close to the group was left fuming about the fact no one from India’s team management asked the curators about the way pitch will play. “I don’t remember anybody from the Indian team management asking the curators how the pitch is going to play. After the continuous rain of two days, there shouldn’t have been two spinners playing,” the source said.

Also, the former India wicketkeeper Farookh Engineer questioned the role of the coaches in the team. He pointed out the technique of the batsmen and went on to say that they are not doing their basics right which is hurting the team in England. “I cannot quite understand what the coaches are doing. The Indian batsmen are doing the basics wrong innings after innings. Somebody should stand up and take responsibility,” he said.
