Cricket is a game of partnerships and it isn’t just about the batsmen or the bowlers but it can also be between a batsman and a bowler. Though they aren’t plying their trades together but in every successful, dominant team there is a certain batsman who is the heart of the line-up and a bowler who is the fuel of their bowling attack. For the Indian Test team that pair is Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Both the players are right at the top of their individual games and are termed the best in the world while their performances have ensured the Indian team is at the apex of the Test rankings. Virat who would has till this point in time just led the Test team will now be captaining the ODI and T20I teams as well and the duo will now forge a partnership as skipper and lead bowler something former skipper MS Dhoni and Ashwin did quite successfully for India in the last few years.

The offie was recently asked to point out the difference in both the leaders and he said, “It will be different because of the kind of interactions you have (with the captain).”

“When I used to play alongside Mahi (Dhoni) as captain one thing which will not happen is that I was communicating to the keeper (skipper Dhoni) from the top of my (bowling) mark. It is going to be very different (now),” Ashwin added.

The vice-captain of the Test team was interacting with the media at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune where the team is practicing ahead of the 1st ODI against England on January 15 felt Virat tends to be a little over-aggressive at times.

“Obviously Virat will be around short midwicket and short cover but it is going to be different in that terms (communication-wise). I have to get used to that sort of communications. Virat, on occasions, can be a little aggressive. That is the one thing I need to try and adjust to. Obviously giving few extra runs to get a wicket is not such a bad thing,” Ashwin said.
