The acting President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), CK Khanna, has recently made it clear that the board is keen on taking the suggestions of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli very seriously. Recently, Kohli had addressed the media citing the cramped schedule of the Indian team that is giving very few days to rest for the team between two series.
The ongoing cricketing season in India is a packed one. The team was slotted to host Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka for 23 international games in the same of 2 months. This will, essentially, leave very little time for the Indian team to prepare for the South Africa tour that will take place a couple of weeks after the conclusion of the ongoing Sri Lanka series.
“Virat is the Indian captain and his view point on cricketing matters should be taken with utmost seriousness. We are proud how the team is performing but if players are feeling fatigued, we need to have a broader view on the issue,” CK Khanna quoted recently.
Matter to be discussed
Now, CK Khanna has mentioned that the board is keen on addressing this issue shortly. He mentioned that there has to be an appropriate forum where the matter is taken up. Khanna added that the December 9 meeting of the board will have this as one of the topics of discussion. It is worth noting that the board has requested the ICC to keep the slot of October to December for India’s home season every year hence forth.
“I think we should analyse if it is a good option to have three back-to-back series with hardly any break for the players. The matter should be taken up at an appropriate forum. It will be great if this can also be included in the agenda for the December 9, Special General Meeting,” he added further.
