Virender Sehwag amazed by the gratitude shown by a cow

Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag is not someone who gives diplomatic opinions. Known for his straight-forward attitude, he is quite popular on Twitter. On Wednesday, the 38-year-old smasher again took to Twitter to venture his amazement. He uploaded a picture on Twitter which shows a cow bowed down in front of a monk.

Beneath the picture, three lines are written which reads “A picture taken in 2008 in Sri Lanka. The monk in the picture saved those cows from slaughter. And after he saved them from slaughter this was what one grateful cow did.” The caption as written by the Delhi-lad is “Gratitude of a Cow. Quite amazing .”

But just like every other tweet by Sehwag, this tweet also got a lot of attention and fetched a bit of controversy. Someone even challenged the authenticity of the picture and uploaded the same picture with a different description. His description reads “A picture taken in 2008 in Sri Lanka. The monk in the picture saved those cows from daily milking. And after he saved them from cruelty, this was what one grateful cow did.”

The Preface

On Sunday, a group of 70-80 students held a beef festival as a protest against government’s notification on banning the cow slaughtering. After the incident, an IIT-Madras PhD scholar named R Sooraj was beaten up for participating in the fest. BJP‘s leader of affairs in Meghalaya Nalin Kohli said that now the state governments should decide whether to follow the ban or not, after understanding the general food habits of the locals.

“The BJP is saying this clearly that the question of having a law in a state on cow slaughter is to be decided by the state and not the Centre. Every state government that decides to have a law or not have a law on cow slaughter, do so keeping in mind the local food habits of that particular state and in the North East every state government will keep this in account,” said Kohli.

“The notification has nothing written on cow slaughter and beef ban. Any state can decide on this and we fully respect the federal structure. How can the Centre impose on the states? The Constitution does not permit that and the Constitution is the only book the BJP follows,” he further added.
