Virender Sehwag makes Shoaib Akhtar his bunny off the pitch
Virender Sehwag loves facing Pakistan. It is certainly no secret. Boasting of the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis, many batsmen would loathe facing such an attack. Sehwag however, has seldom looked troubled against such an attack. Each time Akhtar bowled to the flamboyant Indian opener, he was absolutely ripped to shreds.
With both players well past their prime, the duo now finds themselves brushing each other’s shoulders in the commentary box. While many believe that the rivalry was last seen a few years ago, others believe that it has shifted. It seems as though the Virender Sehwag v Shoaib Akhtar rivalry has packed up and moved into the air-conditioned comfort of the commentary box. Many felt that their diction and knowledge of the English language may not be sufficient to enter the commentary box.
However, at the moment, at the outset of the World T20, it seems as though all eyes are on the duo. Something else has also become a similarity. Just as he did during his playing career, Sehwag seems to have made a bunny out of Shoaib Akhtar once more. His aggressive style of batting seems to have now followed him into the studio and the commentary box as he seems to be owning Shoaib Akhtar in the commentary show.
They have taken the India-Pakistan banter to a whole new level. Here is some of the banter between the two:
He is still too good for Shoaib to handle.
While the Indian team raced to a good total in the powerplays he reminded Shoaib how he had treated Pakistan bowlers.
Shoaib Akhtar had literally no answer for this.
Building up for the India v Pakistan game.
Shewag would have been like umm.. Yes wel probably No!
Sehwag in the Maukat-Mauka mode.
Taking a go at the way he celebrated his wickets.
That’s probably the effect of the India-Pakistan rivalry.
Sehwag had possibly decided he won’t let Shoaib get away with anything.
That sounds heated… But these two constantly had similar fun on air.
