Veteran broadcaster Harsha Bhogle and former cricketer Virender Sehwag have expressed his amusement at the way Anil Kumble abruptly stepped down as the coach of the Indian team. Earlier in the day, Kumble had announced that he would be stepping down as the coach of the team with immediate effect. The details about the same are yet to come in the media. But in the recent times, there was a bit of infamy that the former cricketer had been getting because of his miscommunications with the players of the Indian team.
Apparently, the players did not like the bossy and overpowering attitude of Kumble. There were several reports about the rift between Kumble and Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Albeit both men had denied any such rumors to be true, the speculations persisted.
It grew even more when the BCCI invited applications for the post of the next head coach of the Indian team. This meant that the tenure of Kumble would have ended anyway after the Champions Trophy. But now with Kumble stepping down from the position, the chances of him retaining the spot looks minimal.
Harsha Bhogle took to social media to express his disappointment about the same. He noted that if the news is true, then the Indian cricket has lost an outstanding resource. He tweeted, “If it is true that Anil Kumble has stepped down as coach, Indian cricket has let itself lose an outstanding resource.”

Sehwag joins in
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag also spoke about the same. As per the tweets by News18, Sehwag commented that Anil Kumble has been a tremendous coach from the last one year. He further added that the new coach must be an Indian. He mentioned that a foreign coach would create language barriers which will not be good for the team. He noted, “There should be no foreign coach as there will be a language barrier.”
