On this day in 2002, Sourav Ganguly led India beat England in the final of the Natwest Series chasing down a mammoth total of 326 at Lord’s cricket ground. India won the match by 2 wickets in one of the most incredible one day international matches the country had ever seen.
Indian skipper Ganguly took off his shirt in joy after the win in the final over. Sehwag on the 14th anniversary of the match associated it with Bollywood star Salman Khan, from whom taking off the shirt in his movie is a regular phenomenon.

Chasing 326, Sehwag and Ganguly fired on all cylinders and gave India a flying start. The skipper looked in unbelievable touch as he was even hitting sixes over cover. It was notable since that wasn’t a regular feature of his batting.
Ganguly and Sehwag were dismissed for 60 and 45 runs respectively. India were 106 for 0 before the start of the 15th over but lost 6 wickets in the next 40 runs they scored. From a comfortable position, India suddenly slipped down to 146 for 6.
