Ever since he has started using his Twitter account, Virender Sehwag has made many the butt of his jokes. The dashing opener who took the road to retirement just recently once again took to twitter to stretch the odd yet funny bone in his body. Although it was nothing more than a retweet, the message was sent out loud and clear to current Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
Irfan Pathan might have been scratching his head in the dugout in the first few matches of the tournament. The once famous all-rounder was picked up by the new franchise for good bucks in the auction and was tipped by many to be the key factor in the Supergiants’ claim to fame in the current season. However, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, the southpaw has found opportunities hard to come by. Pathan was also under Dhoni while he was at the Chennai Super Kings. However, an untimely injury saw him left out of the side. Despite returning later on in the season, Pathan was made to warm the bench. In a nutshell, he never played for the Super Kings.
Irfan Pathan has featured in just the two matches in the current edition of the IPL thus far. With the RPS playing as horribly as they have and the fact that they are well and truly out of contention for a playoffs spot, many have questioned MS Dhoni’s handling of the 31-year old all-rounder. He played just the one game where he bowled just the one over before going out of contention for the following few matches.
To make matters worse, Pathan was involved in a mix-up with his skipper MS Dhoni which cost him his wicket. He had sacrificed his wicket for his skipper at the other end while the shouting failed to help him.
In what was somewhat of a comedic moment on twitter, one particular twitter user used a picture of MS Dhoni and his daughter Ziva, with the latter pointing her finger at her father whilst they were travelling on the flight. The caption to this photo read: “Papa Irfan Pathan ko ek chance dedo”
The caption was supposed to have tickled Sehwag’s funnybones to such an extent that he retweeted the same, indicating a clear troll towards MS Dhoni. Sehwag made a huge name for himself in the commentary arena in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 with his impeccable sense of humour.
