Virender Sehwag, during his playing days, was a swashbuckling batsman who preferred to dictate terms on the bowlers. The Delhi cricketer recently played in the inaugural T10 Cricket League in Sharjah where he represented the Maratha Arabians. In the only match, he played couldn’t open his account, perishing to Shahid Afridi on the first ball and was out with an injury in the following matches.

The world has recently bid 2017 goodbye and welcomed 2018. Several people from across the globe are chalking down their new-year goals. Meanwhile, Sehwag has also revealed his plans for the current year in a chat show. The 39-year old mentioned that he is planning to take a break from the commentary box.

A fearless personality

The former Indian batsman is known for his witty comments while commentating in Hindi during international games on Star Sports. The Nawab of Nazafgarh is pretty expressive and hardly minces any words while sharing his opinions on several issues. Sometimes to his agony, the comments sparked controversies and consequently, Viru received flak from the pundits and the general public.

Sehwag also hogs the headlines with his innovative posts on the social media- Instagram and Twitter. During birthdays of eminent personalities, his former teammates and other notable occasions, Sehwag hardly misses out on dropping a post on the social platforms. From the cricketing perspective, Sehwag has been well and truly in the thick of things.

He has been the director of the team as well as the mentor for the Kings XI Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Viru is expected to retain his place in the team even as they look to rejig the combination heading into the 11th season.

As far as his cricketing laurels are considered Sehwag was the second Indian batsman to score a double century in One-Day Internationals against the Windies. He is also known for being the first Indian to score a triple century in Tests and has two of them to his name.
