Virender Sehwag stars in a hilarious ad, urges India to win ODIs after loss in T20Is
The five-match ODI series, meanwhile, will start on March 2.
Australia were the underdogs when they landed in India for the recently-concluded two-match T20I series and the upcoming five-match ODI series. Just a month ago, India had thrashed Australia in Tests and ODIs in their own backyard and were the firm favourites to win at home too. Moreover, the stats were also in India’s favour. Before the start of the series, India had won 11 out of 19 T20Is played against Australia since 2007.
However, Australia stunned one and all by whitewashing the fancied hosts in the T20Is. After winning the series-opener by 3 wickets, the visitors chased down 191 in the second game to inflict a humiliating whitewash on India. Glenn Maxwell, who had scored 56 in the first T20I, starred once again for his side, scoring 113 not out to take Australia home with ease. And the defeat seems to have embarrassed not only the Indian team but also Virender Sehwag.
In the buildup to the series, the former India batsman had featured in a couple of Star Sports advertisements. Sehwag had turned babysitter for the commercial, making references to the Rishabh Pant-Tim Paine babysitting banter during India’s tour of Australia. Sehwag was seen with a bunch of kids wearing Australian jerseys as he took a hilarious dig at the visitors. However, the dig backfired miserably as Australia stunned the hosts in the T20Is.
Sehwag’s plea:
With India looking to avenge their loss by winning the upcoming ODI series, Sehwag has once again featured in a hilarious ad. In his latest avatar, Sehwag could be seen urging the players to win the ODIs and save his reputation.
“Hello, Bhai kya kar rahe ho tumlog yaar? Maine itne ad mein bol diya ki humlog babysitting karenge. Aur tum, bhai dekh lo, marwa mat dena yaar,” Sehwag is spotted as saying to someone over a phone call in the latest ad by Star Sports.
The five-match ODI series, meanwhile, will start on March 2. The forthcoming series is India’s last before the ICC World Cup in England and Wales.
