Former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag hasn’t really been missed in the cricketing circles, even after he called it a day on his playing career. And the sole reason is his antics on social media. Sehwag is well-known for tweeting on current affairs, trending subjects and wishing his fellow colleagues on their birthdays.
Today is former Australian batsman Simon Katich’s birthday and Sehwag clearly couldn’t keep calm. The left-handed Aussie batsman turned 42 today and he received a ‘wrong un’ as a wish on his birthday. Viru tweeted, “Happy Birthday to a wonderful man, Simon Katich. Have a great day and life ahead. #KyaFullTossThaBoss !”.
Along with the tweet, the former Indian opener posted a picture in which Katich can be seen bowling. Not many are aware of the fact that it was the same delivery which got Sehwag dismissed for 195 at MCG. Sehwag smashed Katich for a six in the previous delivery, which was a full toss, and went onto smack the next delivery, again a full toss, but this time got out as Nathan Bracken took a well-judged catch at the long on boundary.
Viru clearly took a dig as he meant the ball must have been a full toss, and to the batsman’s delight, it had a boundary written all over it. Katich is yet to respond to this birthday message. And it will be entertaining to see the two getting into a friendly banter.
Sehwag recently posted a picture on the micro-blogging site, sharing a memory with the fans. He recalled the good old days where he was sharing a table with his Delhi team-mates- Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra.
Interestingly, all of these players went on to play for India, each one of them was a vital cog in the Delhi cricket team’s set up. Sehwag’s close bond with Gambhir is well known, as the duo not only enjoyed batting together for India but also spent a lot of time off the field.
