There have been some players who have owned the Indian Premier League. Players like Suresh Raina, Lasith Malinga, and Chris Gayle have been the impact players of the cash-rich tournament and they seem to maintain their performance levels season after seasons. Generally, the West Indian players have had a good time in the league with the likes of Bravo, Russell, and Gayle living up to their expectations.

The Universe Boss

Chris Gayle has been the marquee player for the Royal Challengers Bangalore over the past few years. On his day, he made the bowlers toil and destroyed them in a way that is possible only by him. His ability to stand and deliver sets him apart from the rest. However, he did not have a good season last year with RCB and this forced the franchise to release him for the 11th edition. Gayle remained unsold in the 2018 IPL Auction in the first and second round. Just when we thought that fans will not witness the Universal Boss this time, Sehwag and Preity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab purchased him for the base price.

His blistering knock of 104 in just 63 deliveries, handed the third victory of the season to Kings XI Punjab. When he received the Man of the Match award, he expressed gratitude towards Virender Sehwag and credited him with “saving the IPL”. He hit the first century of IPL 2018 at PCA Stadium, Mohali, and showed his haters that even at the age of 38, he’s better than many young players.

When Gayle was purchased by KXIP, fans trolled the management with the following tweets:

I saved the IPL by picking – @henrygayle.”

In another tweet, Sehwag trolled haters with this:

Gayle has clearly shown that he still has a lot of power hitting left in him and on his day, he can still take away the game single-handedly. He must maintain his form for his side to get good starts throughout the season.
