Team India’s unbeaten streak finally came to an end as they lost the opening Test to Australia by a huge margin of 333 runs. It also meant Australia won a Test in India after a gap of 13 long years. It took the mighty Australians exactly 4,502 days to win a Test in India which opened the floodgates for people to criticise the team which has been in exceptional form off late, winning everything which came their way. Common people took to their twitter accounts and showed their frustration after Indian lost their 1st Test after a gap of 1 and a half years.
It’s unfortunate to see the supporters forget the exemplary performances of Team India within a fraction of a second after losing just one Test and criticise their heroes who have been thoroughly professional in their long home season so far. One man who has seen different kinds of fan reactions during his 14 years long international career, Virender Sehwag made a pretty logical request to the ever demanding fans of Team India.
Taking to his twitter handle, Sehwag tweeted, “Good friends make even difficult times easier. It’s disappointing but r you a good friend? Time to be a good friend & continue to support Team.” It was a pathetic display of batsmanship by the star-studded batting line-up but we shouldn’t forget that these were the batsmen who averaged more than 500 runs in their 1st innings throughout the home season. We would obviously like to believe that this was more of an aberration going into the 2nd Test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Aussie left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe was the wrecker in chief for the visitors as he finished with exceptional match figures of 12/70. In both innings, he finished with figures of 6/35 which was instrumental in handing India their first defeat on home soil since their defeat to England in Eden Gardens in 2012. Captain Steve Smith also scored a magnificent century which allowed the visitors to set a massive target to the hosts in their 2nd essay.
