Virender Sehwag wishes Yuvraj Singh ease, peace and love on his 37th birthday
Sehwag's tweet describes the person and the cricketer Yuvraj Singh was and still is, perfectly.
Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag took to his favourite social media platform, Twitter, to wish Yuvraj Singh, his teammate of many remarkable matches, a very happy birthday. The Indian southpaw turned 37 on Wednesday, December 12 and Sehwag’s tweet for the happy occasion was as sharp-witted as the rest of his posts. The tweet of ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ for the ‘Prince of Indian cricket’ read:
“Thrashed bowlers, thrashed disease, thrashed many setbacks in life. Wishing you times of ease, peace, and love. #HappyBirthdayYuvi”
The tweet goes on to show that the relationship and the rapport the two cricketer’s share goes beyond being customary. Together, they had been involved in way too many memorable matches back in their time. While some ended in losses, a lot were victories worth remembering and cherishing forever, including the 2011 World Cup victory at Wankhede, Mumbai.
Sehwag and Yuvraj’s camaraderie
Sehwag’s tweet describes the person and the cricketer Yuvraj Singh was and still is, perfectly. The style and flamboyance he brought on the field, and the strength and resilience he showed off it, is almost unparalleled in the history of the game.
Keeping aside his flick-of-the-wrist sixes and brilliant fielding prowess, Yuvraj was also awarded the Man of the Series title in U-19 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 (50 overs) World Cup – the only person to achieve this feat.
Even after he was diagnosed with cancer in the lungs, he battled it with everything and came out victorious, despite losing important years of his cricketing career and certainly the charisma he used to have. In fact, he established a foundation, named YouWeCan to spread awareness about cancer and collect donation funds for the same, for those who cannot afford a treatment themselves.
Currently, Yuvraj Singh is targeting IPL 2019 to prove that he has still got it in him and probably to secure a place in 2019 World Cup.
