There is a notion in cricket, “A captain is as good as his team.” Virat Kohli understands this perfectly it seems. After winning the first Test in Adelaide, he didn’t mince his words while praising his four-pronged bowling attack who tirelessly toiled in the heat to pick 20 wickets. However, not only with his words, the captain is setting an example with his actions also as Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma gave up their business class seats to the Indian pace bowlers in order to relax while travelling from Adelaide to Perth.
India swayed away from their five-bowler theory and played three pacers and only one specialist spinner in the series opener. The result was a huge workload on all of them as India had to bowl a total of 218.3 overs with only eight overs bowled by the part-time bowler. While Ravi Ashwin toiled the most by sending down a massive 86.5 overs, the other three pacers shared the remaining 132 overs which is again a huge number.
Even Ravi Shastri acknowledged the same and stressed the importance of resting them ahead of the Perth Test and clarified that there will be no compulsory net sessions for them.
Vaughan witnessed the epic incident
Michael Vaughan witnessed the heart-touching incident and was quick to take to Twitter to share the same. He pointed out that these are danger signs for Australia as the pacers will now again be fresh and ready to go in the second Test which starts from Friday.

This is such a kind gesture from Virat and his wife and the team bonding only grows due to these small things. No wonder the respect for the captain in the team members’ eyes must have increased to a paramount level. Interestingly, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Kohli is walking on MS Dhoni’s steps as even he used to do the same during his captaincy which always helped the bowlers, who toil hard, relax.
