The bond between former West Indies legend Sir Viv Richards and Virat Kohli only got stronger when the former went on to praise the Indian Test skipper following his magnificently compiled double century. Virat Kohli completed his first ever Test double ton in his entire cricketing career after smashing exactly 200 runs in the first Test between India and the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Viv Richards has been quite vocal about the 27-year old Kohli and has also been quoted while stating that he sees a lot of himself in Virat Kohli. Richards is currently a part of the commentary team that is covering the ongoing four-match Test series between India and the West Indies. In their previous meeting, Kohli has been over-awed by the presence of Richards and took to twitter to reiterate the same.

After the meeting, Kohli had tweeted, “What a memorable moment. With the greatest ever, Sir @vivrichards56. Words of gold from him.”

Richards went on to state that it was a magnificent hundred given the difficulty batsmen face while trying to score runs.

“I think it was a magnificent hundred. To score a double hundred at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground is a formidable task in terms of what he has achieved,” Richards told the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) website on Friday.

“I remember when I met him at the hotel (before the Test series) I did say good luck, but I didn’t believe he would take it this far in terms of achieving a double. As a batsman myself, it was very pleasing to see and even though it was against the West Indies, I do appreciate seeing class and his was a classy knock,” he added.
