Delhi Daredevils will be going into the February auction with the largest purse of 36 crores which gives them enough opportunity to buy back the choice of players they want in the auction. The biggest surprise on the last day of the trading window was releasing Yuvraj Singh into the auction. Kings XI Punjab maintained their core very well by retaining their top performers. Major names like David Miller, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Marsh and Akshar Patel have been retained. They have also chosen not to release domestic players who have done well for them like Anureet Singh, Gurkeerat Mann, Manan Vohra and Wriddhiman Saha. KXIP released the least number of players, in all just eight. The only big name that they have surprisingly released was George Bailey who had an impressive last season with 259 runs in 13 matches. The Punjab franchise has spent 43cr so far and are left with 23cr to spend in the auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders retain 15 players for the IPL 2016 while releasing 10. Skipper Gautham Gambhir, Piyush Chawla, Robin Uthappa, Umesh Yadav, Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell were the big names who were preserved. It was surprising to find all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate in the list of the released players. He was quite notable last season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad squad looks solid for the 2016 season. They retained David Warner, Kane Williamson and Trent Boult who all had a good 2015. The biggest name to be left out of the Sunrisers squad was Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma and Kevin Pieterson. Steyn is struggling with his fitness but KP is in blazing form and should have been retained.
