Although Team India has been on a roll in the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, they suffered a major blow ahead of the second T20I. All-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and won’t participate in the remaining matches. Furthermore, eight players were identified close to the southpaw, and subsequently, they also underwent COVID-19 tests. Fortunately for the visiting team, no other member besides Krunal has contracted the virus.
However, some reports suggest those eight players won’t feature in the second T20I of the three-match series owing to safety measures. This means nine players would be unavailable for the upcoming game. If the report happens to be true, the visiting team would even struggle to name a potent playing XI. With this news becoming the talk of the town, many fans and experts presented their opinion.
Rahul Dravid to be back on the field?
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer also did the same so but in his own trademark style. Taking to Twitter, Jaffer posted a hilarious meme showcasing how Rahul Dravid, who’s India’s interim coach for the Sri Lanka tour, would take the field with VVS Laxman in the second T20I. The former opener apparently shared a merged picture in three parts. It also contained a snap from Dravid’s famous ‘Indiranagar ka Gunda’ advertisement for Cred.
Although jokingly, Jaffer showed Dravid would call VVS Laxman and his other former teammates with several players from the current squad not being available. ‘A story in 3 parts. SL isn’t ready,’ read the caption of the post. Netizens found Jaffer’s antics hilarious once again as the comment section got flooded in time.

Dravid, during his playing days, was known for his ability to embrace any challenge. However, ‘The Wall’ retired from international cricket in 2012 and his comeback on the 22 yards is highly unlikely. Nevertheless, he’ll have a formidable task of finalizing India’s playing XI for the upcoming clash. Notably, the second T20I was initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday (July 27). However, following Krunal’s test, the encounter was postponed to July 28.
Meanwhile, India, having won the preceding ODI series 2-1, walked away with a 38-run triumph in the first T20I. The visitors are currently 1-0 up in the three-match series and would like to seal the deal in the upcoming game. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would fight for an equalizer.
