The Virat Kohli-led Indian side has certainly performed incredibly across all formats in the past one under his leadership. They are the No. 1 ranked Test side and were also the finalists’ in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales. However, after consecutive victories in his bag, Virat Kohli still has many more points to accomplish, when it comes to his captaincy. He still has a long way forward to cement his place as one of the finest Indian skippers of all time. Also, he has a fully supportive and experienced Mahendra Singh Dhoni by his side, whose is a known when it comes to handling pressure situations.
Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman feels that Dhoni still remains a valuable asset for not only the Indian team but also to the skipper Kohli. With his immense and invaluable experience, MS Dhoni can contribute a lot more to the Indian cricket. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s spot in the team was surely under the scanner prior to the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka. But, the veteran answered all his critics and questions with some exceptional performances, when the side was under pressure and also remained unbeaten throughout the Sri Lanka tour.
Dhoni has a lot of cricket left
Laxman revealed that Dhoni is working very hard on his fitness and still has a lot to offer to the sport. He also stated about the changes that he has brought in his batting style for the upcoming challenges. “Absolutely [a lot of cricket is left in him]. What has impressed me about Dhoni is the way he has been working hard on his fitness. He is naturally fit, but he is so lean now. He is going to the gym regularly, he is working out regularly, which is a great change in him,” said Laxman in a conversation with Sports Tak YouTube channel.
“Also, there is change in his technique, which says that he is always looking to improve. Some of the knocks he played, especially when India were under pressure in Sri Lanka, tell us there is no one better than Dhoni,” he added.
Kohli can learn a lot from him
MSD is surely the most experienced guy in the current Indian line-up. He has played 301 ODIs and 78 T20s in which he has scored 9658 and 1212 runs respectively. With all his achievements and abilities, the former Indian captain has got it all what it takes to be the finest cricketers of all time.
