VVS Laxman heaps praises on the Indian eves after they demolish Australia
With this win, India booked their berth in the semi-final as Group B table toppers.
Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman is no stranger to producing a better performance against a strong Australian contingent. During his illustrious and outstanding career, he bashed the Kangaroos with his grit and determination many a time, most famously at the Eden Gardens in 2001 when he registered 281 in the second innings of the 2nd Test.
Whenever the Indian side does well against a rampant Aussie side, among all the former cricketers, Laxman has to be the happiest. He had his moment yesterday as the India ladies did a terrific job in Guyana to demolish the three-time World T20 champions in all departments. With this win, India booked their berth in the semifinals as Group B table toppers in the Women’s World T20 2018.
The Hyderabad cricketer was totally elated with the way India managed to dominate the game. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur batted their heart for the national side and it was complimented well with a superb collective bowling effort. The Women in Blue won the game by 48 runs and Mandhana was awarded the player of the game.
“Many congratulations India on a thoroughly dominating performance and beating the Aussies for a 4th consecutive win . Wishing the team all the best for the semis,” the 44-year-old said via his official Twitter handle.
India yet to know the competitor
As it stands, the Indians could potentially face any of three teams from Group A – West Indies, England and South Africa. The Proteas women have a narrow chance as they will have to register a huge win to progress through. With net run rate in their favour, Windies and England can be deemed favourites to reach the final four.
The team which finishes second in Group A will face India in the first semi-final on 23rd November in Antigua. South Africa will give it their best shot to register a big win against Bangladesh and they will also need some favour from the defending champions. India would fancy a battle against England to try and avenge their defeat in the Women’s World Cup final last year at Lord’s.
