VVS Laxman shares an emotional anecdote about David Warner and his absence from IPL this year

It took the entire cricketing world by a shocker when the ball-tampering saga came into the limelight. David Warner and Steve Smith, who are two of the most adored cricketers around the world were banned by Cricket Australia for a year after this incident. This incident was something no one could imagine about and was truly heart-breaking.

Not only did this incident affect their national team, but it also did affect their IPL franchises. Although both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals had a different set of performers who rose up to the occasion, their absence was clearly felt. More than the Royals, SRH were dealt with a bigger blow just as the season was about to begin.

David Warner was an inspirational leader for the team. He was a beast when he was playing in the ‘Orange colors’. Warner is one of the top performers for the side and scored tons of runs for the team. The SRH fans connect themselves a lot to him emotionally. SRH also won IPL 2016 under his leadership. Many missed him before the tournament kicked off although Kane Williamson, with his performances, overlapped the grief. Among those who missed Warner were two of his biggest fans, VVS Laxman’s son, and daughter.

Sarvajit and Achintya, VVS Laxman’s children were heartbroken when they got to know that Warner’s wouldn’t play IPL 2018. In a show called ‘Breakfast with Champions’ hosted by Gaurav Kapoor, VVS Laxman shared the story of what exactly happened when his children got to know about the ball-tampering saga.

Laxman said that his children watch IPL extensively. Further, he added that his kids liked David Warner quite a bit. He said that his kids knew the importance of David Warner in the SRH lineup. He told that his kids were in tears when they saw the headline in the newspapers the next day after the incident. Laxman also told that his kids were disappointed when SRH lost the IPL Final to CSK.
