Wahab Riaz and Umar Amin engage in a funny moment in Pakistan Cup
It so happened when left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz steamed in to bowl.
Sometimes, on-field incidents can be deceptive for the naked eyes located far away. One such instance happened during a game between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh in Pakistan Cup in Rawalpindi on Tuesday and the social media users were amused by it. The incident gave the impression that the bowler and the batsman were engaged in an ugly verbal duel while the reality was different. The spectators were completely bamboozled by the episode and it received quite a traction on the social media.
It so happened when left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz steamed in to bowl the 15th over of the Sindh innings while they chased 301 in 50 overs. Sindh were 66 for 2 with left-hand batsman Umar Amin coming out to take strike and he nudged the ball towards the leg side. It was then when Riaz was seen giving an angry glare at the batsman and walking up to him. The left-arm pacer is known for his temperament and dig at opponent batsmen and all thought it was yet another such case of the clash.
The batsman and bowler weren’t fighting
However, what happened next left all startled. The batsman was seen showing his bat at a retreating Riaz. From the distance, it looked that Amin was giving it back to the bowler but when the two reached the non-striker’s end, one could see a smile on Riaz’s face and Amin talking to the umpire to fix the sight-screen issue. The new batsman was looking at adjusting the sight-screen and not getting into the tiff with the bowler, as many had thought.
Riaz finished with 2 wickets for 46 runs in the match which the Pakhtunkhwa won narrowly by nine runs as Sindh managed 291 for 9 in 50 overs. Pakhtunkhwa’s Khushdil Shah was adjudged the man of the match for his hundred in just 66 balls. For Sindh, opener Umar Siddiq top scored with 69 while Amin scored 32. The duo added 68 runs for the third wicket which was the highest for the chasers.
