Want to emulate what Kohli does across all formats: Joe Root
England top-order batsman Joe Root heaped praise on Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli recently. The comparison between Virat and Root has been one of the best in the modern day cricket. Both batsmen have had an excellent run in the recent past. They are tipped to be the players for the future. While some often call Virat as a better batsman, there are others who feel Root has an edge. Truth be told, both batsmen have immense respect for one another.
This came to the fore yet again when Joe Root spoke in all admiration for the Indian batting star. Root mentioned that the way Kohli manages to score runs across all three formats is commendable. Not only he is a great player for his side, but also someone the opposition can look up for learning the skills. He hailed Kohli as a great leader.
“I think Virat is always looking to improve his game. You see his form in white ball cricket. His record has been phenomenal over the last 12 months. In Test cricket, he has already done some special things while captaining the side. He is a great leader on the field and he is a good person to learn from, from an opponent’s point of view as well,” Joe Root quoted in an exclusive with BCCI.tv.
He further heaped praise for the work ethics that Kohli has. Root went on to say that he wishes to emulate the way Kohli manages his game in all the three formats.

“I think he is obviously a fine player. The way he can construct the innings in both white and red ball cricket and make contributions across the three formats, is really impressive. That’s the way I try to do and hopefully I can emulate that and take it forward for rest of the years,” Root quoted.
India is currently on top in the 2nd Test. Skipper Kohli hit a brilliant 167 as India posted 455 on the board. Half the English side is back to the pavilion. Joe Root hit a 53 and looked the most comfortable among all the English batsmen at the wicket.
