Chennai Super Kings won the first two matches after making a comeback in the IPL after a two-year wait. They lost the third match against KXIP in spite of heroics of their captain, MS Dhoni. CSK needed their top order to perform against Rajasthan Royal and Shane Watson did give them a flying start. The former Australian all-rounder scored the third century of his IPL career.
Shane Watson admitted that he wanted to perform well against his perform team which worked as an extra motivation for him. “There’s no doubt I had extra motivation tonight (against his former team). It is nice to put in the performance that I did tonight. I’m Grateful for the opportunity I’ve had for CSK. Glad to repay them tonight,” Watson said as quoted by the News 18.

The right-handed batsman was lucky as he was dropped early in the innings. To this, he replied that he wanted to make most of the chances he got. “It’s just one of those things that happened in the first couple of overs. You don’t mean to drop them, but that’s the way it goes. It went my way tonight, and you got to make the most of it.” Shane Watson said about dropped catches
While he was happy with the innings he said that he still trying to improve his game. He praised captain MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming as he credited them for setting up a good team. “I’m still working on certain aspects of the game. Chris Gayle scored a century vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Watson didn’t leave this opportunity to praise his ex-teammate. “Chris Gayle is the greatest T20 batsman in the world. To be able to score so many T20 hundreds is great. That’s the reason he’s called the Universe Boss. He keeps bossing attacks around the world,” he concluded by saying.
