The former Pakistan bowler Waqar Younis has revealed that Sachin Tendulkar was the best batsman he ever bowled to in his illustrious career. Both the stalwarts of cricket have retired now and are attached to the sport in some other way with their respective boards. While Waqar is currently associated with the team in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the master blaster was in the thick of the things when BCCI had to appoint a head coach for the Indian team. However, Waqar has opined that he has never seen a committed player than Sachin in his career.
Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut against Pakistan when Waqar was one of the bowlers of the best bowling attack in the world. He was just 16-year-old then and the Pakistani players had laughed him off calling as a kid. Though as it panned out over next 25 years, Sachin is rated as the best player ever in the history of the game and is even compared with Don Bradman. He was often compared with Brian Lara as well, but the former head coach of Pakistan rates maestro higher than him.
It was a challenge bowling to Sachin
According to Cricket Addictor, Waqar Younis revealed that it was a challenge bowling to Sachin Tendulkar throughout his career. “I played a lot against Tendulkar, and he made his debut against us. Over the years I saw him become a thorough professional and I have not seen such a committed player. He was the best batsman I bowled to, and it used to be a challenge. I always believe that unless you are disciplined particularly in cricket sense, all your talent is of no use to your team,” he said.
Sachin Tendulkar had a special liking to Pakistan bowling attack during his illustrious career and enjoyed batting against them. He was also hit by a bouncer during his debut game against Pakistan and even after bleeding he stayed on the crease to caress the next bowl to the boundary. Many had rated him highly then and Sachin Tendulkar didn’t disappoint them as he finished his career with his fans calling him ‘God of Cricket’.
