Waqar Younis wants women's cricket to be reduced to 30 overs
Waqar Younis, a Pakistan legend, yesterday tweeted a suggestion to ICC concerning women’s cricket.
The ongoing Women’s World Cup in England has been pretty entertaining. We have witnessed some magnificent performances since the start of the tournament. This world cup has seen a certain Chamari Atapattu score a magnificent 178 not out which ended in a loss. We have seen Meg Lanning hit a match-winning 152 all in the same game.
Yesterday saw a young 20-year-old left-hander scored her second century for India. A fantastic inning from Smriti Mandhana saw India get past West Indies with ease. This was their second win in as many games as India are in a firm position to enter the next round of the World Cup. Women’s cricket so far has been fantastic to watch. Yes, it is a bit different compared to the men’s cricket and a bit less evolved as well.
However, that does not take away the entertainment factor away from women’s cricket. Every country in the world cup is giving their all to win and it is fantastic to watch. But a Pakistan legend yesterday tweeted a suggestion to ICC concerning women’s cricket.
Waqar Younis wants a 30 over World Cup
Waqar Younis tweeted about reducing women’s cricket to 30 overs instead of 50 overs. He compared the sport to Tennis and said that they also have 3 sets for women and 5 sets for men. He said that 50 overs are too many for women.
His tweet read, “@ICC What abt having 30 overs Cricket World Cup 4 Women???Like Tennis 3 sets rather then 5 #Suggestion I feel 50 overs r few 2many #WWCUP17”
Waqar after tweeting this needs to be careful of those feminazis out there as they will now come lashing out at him. The argument is valid but both the sports are way different. Cricket is a team game and has lots of breaks and stops in between, the stamina required is different compared to Tennis where a lot of running is required which takes a lot of energy and it is not a team event unless you play doubles.
We can observe that women are completing the 50 overs without any issue and have been doing it for quite some time now.
