Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram was probably one of the finest ever to have played the game. The left-arm pacer combined beautifully with Waqar Younis to form one of the best bowling duos across the world. Recently Akram was playing a friendly match with the likes of Shoaib Malik, Imran Nazir, and Sohaib Maqsood. He showed the glimpse of his old performance in the match.

The 51-year-old went on to dismiss the current Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik as the right-hander edged one behind only to be grabbed by the wicketkeeper. Fans had gathered to witness the match at the Multan Cricket Stadium and Akram didn’t disappoint the fans. He first beat Malik’s edge and then sent the batter back to the pavilion. As Akram was celebrating the wicket of Malik along with his teammates, opponent batsman Imran Nazir to joined them and gave a high-five.

Akram made his debut for Pakistan in the ODIs at the age of 18 in 1984 and finished his career as the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with 502 scalps to his name. He was part of the side which won World Cup in 1992 under the captaincy of Imran Khan. Akram has grabbed 3 wickets and had scored 33 runs in just 18 deliveries in the final which won him player of the match award.

In Tests, the left-handed pacer picked up 404 wickets, the most by any Pakistan bowler. He represented the side in 104 Tests and averaged 23.92 in the whites for Pakistan. Akram had 3 Test centuries to his name with a double century inning against Zimbwabe at home being his highest score where he scored 257 not out runs. He hit 12 sixes in his innings along with 22 fours.

Active as a cricket commentator, Akram retired from all formats of the cricket in 2003. But his brilliant bowling against current Pakistani star Shoaib Malik suggests that Akram has still got what it takes to dismiss one of the best batters around.
