Wasim Akram hails Mohammed Kaif as a legendary fielder

The former Pakistan skipper has lauded the athleticism of Mohammad Kaif.

Mohammad Kaif forayed into international cricket as a handy middle-order batsman and an acrobatic fielder for the Indian cricket team. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer played a match-winning knock against England in the Final of the Natwest Trophy against England in 2002 which hogged the headlines. Apart from being a reliable batsman, he has also been outstanding as a fieldsman.

Over the course of his career, Kaif has churned out flashes of brilliance. They have either grasped screamers in the outfield or has inflicted stupendous run-outs through their sheer athleticism. Subsequently. He was showered with appreciations from every nook and corner of the world. However, due to lack of consistency and emergence of vibrant cricketers, Kaif steadily faded into oblivion.

Kaif is also an active participant in the social media. Recently, he took to Twitter and conducted a question and answer session where he gave his fans an opportunity to interact with him. One user asked him about the greatest compliment he has ever received. The cricketer replied promptly and took Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan cricketer’s name.

Another user asked him about his favorite fielder to which Kaif replied with Jonty Rhodes name. “The great @JontyRhodes8. Need to dedicate time to fielding as much as to batting or bowling”, he mentioned. The fact that Kaif mentioned Rhodes’ name didn’t spring a surprise and the South African fielder has been an exemplary figure for many cricketers across the globe. Kaif last represented India in a One Day International against South Africa at St Georges Park way back in 2006.

The cricketer has been also led the Indian Under-19 team to a World Cup triumph in 2000. He was also a part of the victorious Rajasthan Royals team in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008. However, he was released by the team management ahead of the 2009 season in South Africa. The cricketer has recently played for the Virender Sehwag-led Diamond team in the St Moritz Ice Cricket tournament staged in Switzerland.
