Wasim Akram names the current best Indian pacer
Wasim Akram is currently taking part in the St. Moritz Ice Cricket Tournament in Switzerland.
Former Pakistani cricketer and arguably the best left-arm pacer the game has ever witnessed, Wasim Akram, named the best Indian fast bowler from the current lot. The Indian team at the moment is blessed with a crop of fast bowlers that can bowl quick, do well in the subcontinent and flourish even overseas. The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are all wicket-takers.
From among them, Akram termed that Bhuvneshwar is more effective compared to Shami and Bumrah the other two preferred Test pacers. The owner of 414 Test and 502 ODI wickets said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is different from other Indian seamers because of his ability to swing the ball both ways with the newly added pace. These two reasons are enough for Akram to pick the Uttar Pradesh-born pacer as his best paceman of the current Indian side.
“Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the most impressive pacer in South Africa as far as my assessment goes. He was getting the ball to swing both ways. And with increased pace now, he has become all the more effective,” Akram told SportStar.
Indian pacers to do well in England
The legend is currently taking part in the St. Moritz Ice Cricket Tournament in Switzerland. He also talked about India’s upcoming tour of England in August 2018. According to Wasim, the Dukes ball will be used in England. He feels that the current Indian pace attack has the firepower to come good on that tour as well.
He also added that the Kookaburra ball is a difficult one to bowl with, which was used in the recently concluded South African Test series. However, Dukes will be used in the tour of England and pitching it would be an easier task for the Indians.
“This Indian pace attack has potential to do well in England. They were very impressive in South Africa with the kookaburra which is a difficult ball to bowl with so Dukes which does a lot after pitching will be an easier for them,” Akram concluded.
After losing the Test series 1-2 to South Africa, the Indian team is on a winning spree in the ongoing ODI series. They took a 3-0 lead with three more games to go in the series.
