Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has joined the recent discussions about the best ever Pakistan captain. In the last few days, there have been several debates and discussions over who is a better captain among Imran Khan and Misbah Ul Haq. Misbah has been the most successful Test captain for Pakistan in the history of the game. On the other hand, Imran Khan was the world cup winning captain for the national side.
The debate sparked up after when Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shaharyar Khan had recently quoted that the current Test skipper Misbah is better than all other captains to have led the national side. Misbah is currently in West Indies leading Pakistan in his last assignment as the Test skipper. His last Test as the Pakistan captain will commence on May 10.
“I said this on the basis of cricket. I have no political affiliation. I respect him as a player. I am not in politics. This is on the basis of statistics,” Shaharyar Khan had quoted.
Soon, many former cricketers and cricket pundits joined the discussion. Shahid Afridi had noted that the numbers fall in favor of Misbah. He cited that Imran Khan had the best of players at his disposal during his time at the helm of Pakistan cricket. On the other hand, Misbah had to rebuild the team from the scratch.
Now, Wasim Akram seems to differ on this note. As per the quotes in Geo.tv, he remarked that there can be no comparison between the two players. He mentioned that Imran Khan is undoubtedly the best captain he has seen in his career.
“There is no comparison between the two. Misbah has a better winning record but I have never seen a captain like Imran Khan. He is a brilliant leader and my mentor,” quoted Wasim Akram.
