Wasim Jaffer comes up with a stunning reply as fan asks 'why no tweets on Ashes?'

Cricket fans are busy nowadays with England and Australia battling it out in the high-voltage Ashes 2021-22. The two teams have a history of rivalry which makes Ashes arguably the most prominent Test series. Meanwhile, the ongoing Test series got underway on Wednesday (December 8) at the Gabba in Brisbane. Some mind-boggling action has been witnessed in the first three days and it would be interesting to see how the contest ends up.

With stakes being incredibly high in the Ashes, prominent cricket personalities have been actively giving their opinion on the match proceedings through social media. However, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer, who’s known for his hilarious tweets and strong meme game, hasn’t been active in this regard. On Thursday (December 9), a fan asked the former cricketer why he hasn’t posted anything regarding Ashes.

On expected lines, Jaffer didn’t come up with a straightforward reply. Jaffer said he was more interested in the Vijay Hazare Trophy than the Ashes. “Frankly I’m more interested in the #VijayHazareTrophy at the moment,” tweeted the 43-year-old. For the unversed, the former opener is the head coach of Odisha. He was appointed in July.

Meanwhile, Odisha have gotten off to a great start in the tournament, recording emphatic wins in their first two matches in the Elite Group A. They are currently in the second position in the points table. Vidarbha are leading Group A as their net run rate is better than that of Odisha.

As far as the Ashes opener is concerned, the Brisbane Test is hanging in balance after the end of Day 3. England looked in all sorts of trouble after getting skittled out for 147 while batting first at the Gabba. The hosts then posted 425, thanks to a sensational ton from Travis Head. England’s defeat looked inevitable as Australia gained a mammoth 278-run lead in the first innings.

However, a terrific batting display fir Dawid Malan and skipper Joe Root in the second innings kept the visitors in the hunt. The duo slammed half-centuries as England were 220/2 at the end of third day’s play.  Hence, it would be interesting to see how the remaining days would pan out.
