The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is renowned for his aggression on the field. A passionate leader and player, Kohli is never economic in celebration after he plucks a catch or a bowler bags a wicket. Not only for his own efforts, but the Indian captain wildly cheers his teammates’ efforts too.
Rather recently, Mohammed Shami revealed that he ends up asking Kohli “was it my wicket or yours?” as the latter often celebrates more than the bowlers. The Indian pacer went onto say that his captain has even questioned him for not celebrating enough after wickets. Even as it may not look justified to many, an overenthusiastic Kohli often ends up using expletives during his celebrational mood.
Unlike the old days, when there were much lesser cameras covering the live on-field action, there are hundreds of technological eyes watching each player for the entirety of the games in the modern-day. The Indian leader’s aggressive celebrations are no secrets, therefore, and have instead given an easy route to many meme-makers to make the best possible use of those moments.
Wasim Jaffer makes good use of a Kohli GIF
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer is well-known for his funny and witty social media presence. Be it giving hints to the Indian team in codewords, sharing apt memes to describe cricket situations, giving cheeky replies or taking hilarious jibes at his colleagues, Jaffer has certainly become a Twitter sensation in the recent past.
He lived up to that reputation again when Wisden India recently took to Twitter to ask everyone to name a player that they would love to see in the Indian team had international transfers been allowed in cricket. “If international transfers were allowed in cricket, which player would you have loved to see in the Indian Test team?” read their tweet.
Revealing his choice cheekily, Jaffer used Kohli’s infamous GIF where his lip movement resonates with the pronunciation of Ben Stokes. Unsurprisingly, Jaffer’s hysterical take left one and all in splits. Meanwhile, the Indian team is all set to travel to the United Kingdom for the upcoming final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand, followed by the Test series against England, where both Kohli and Stokes will be in action.
