Even though all the Jaffer-Vaughan banters are good-spirited, it was indeed a contrasting gesture from the 43-year-old.

The sport of cricket has seen innumerable on-field rivalries. While they usually end with the end of players’ cricket careers, a couple of gentlemen have managed to keep a rivalry of sorts alive despite having said goodbye to the game many moons back. It is not a hard guess – they are the frenemies Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan.
The duo has had the most rib-tickling and hilarious banters on Twitter, where neither of them ever let go a chance to have a go at each other. Giving a different taste to their conversation, Jaffer, on August 1, celebrated as friendship day, took a slight detour and wished his England counterpart. “Happy friendship day @MichaelVaughan #FriendshipDay”, read Jaffer’s tweet.
Even though all the Jaffer-Vaughan banters are good-spirited, it was indeed a contrasting gesture from the 43-year-old, whose tweet having the name of Vaughan usually means only one thing: leg-pulling.
Happy friendship day @MichaelVaughan 😄 #FriendshipDay

England and India to draw swords soon
Speaking of rivalry, Jaffer and Vaughan’s national teams India and England are all in readiness to face each other in a five-Test series starting from August 4 in Nottingham. Given the duo’s reputation and record, it is certain that the next couple of months would have plenty of additions to the list of their Twitter banters, given their teams are up against each other.
England had travelled to India earlier this year for a full-fledged tour, where they went on to lose in each of the three formats. The visitors lost the four-match Test series 3-1, despite having taken a 1-0 lead by defeating India in Chennai. In a similar vein, England had started the five-match T20I series on a winning note and took a 2-1 lead by the third fixture. Although, India bounced back and clinched the series 3-2. Later in the three ODIs, England suffered a 2-1 defeat.
Unlike that tour, England has the home advantage on their side in the upcoming Test series, which also kickstarts the second cycle of the World Test Championship. India plays five Tests at Trent Bridge, Lord’s, Leeds, the Oval and Old Trafford, before the IPL-bound players will leave for UAE.
