Watch: 40,000 Indians sing the National Anthem together
Watch: 40,000 Indians sing the National Anthem together: India is a patriotic country from within and the citizens’ switch on to Mode: Patriotism fully on certain special occasions. Those are times when it is the Republic Day, Independence Day and when it is India vs Pakistan in any competition. Not that there is no patriotism otherwise but it is extensively visible during these moments.
At the Adelaide Oval in Australia it was one of these events, an India vs Pakistan match at the ICC world cup 2015 drew thousands of Indians to the stadium. The stadium which has the capacity of occupying 55,000 people had Indians in access of 40,000 clearly outnumbering their counterparts. As a ritual before every world cup match, the ICC organizes for the National Anthem of both the competing nations to be played.
One can see in this video which is recorded by a spectator present, witnessing this epic moment themselves. As soon as it was time for the Indian National Anthem- the ‘Jana Gana Mana’ to be played everyone rose to it and the nationals who had travelled to Australia to watch their team play along with the non-residents who reside in Australia to sing along the Anthem with fellow patriots and countrymen.
The atmosphere was electric and one can see them singing it at the top of their voices, with broad chests, proud of being Indians and having got this huge opportunity to sing the National Anthem together with at least another 40,000 Indians present in the stadium to cheer their team as they were in readiness to play against arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
