Rahul Dravid is considered to be one of the coolest cricketers and one of the solid batsmen across the globe. Taking his captaincy into consideration, he has been a much better captain than what his record suggests and here we have an epic moment which shows his captaincy tactics, where he dismissed Kamran Akmal of Pakistan with his sheer brilliance.
Forget the bowler who delivered it according to the plan and the fielder who made the catch look so easy, but it was the wicket for the skipper who read the way Kamran plays and placed Suresh Raina (one of the better fielders on the side), to clinch on to it.
The incident happened in the 4th ODI of the India’s tour to Pakistan in the year 2005-06. Indian skipper Rahul Dravid won the toss and put the opposition on to bat first at Multan Cricket Stadium. Kamran Akmal along with Salman Butt were the openers. As soon as Kamran came on strike, Dravid removed the second slip and placed it at short point.
Ramiz Raja at the commentator’s box pointed out the brilliance of Dravid and the fielder came in contention in the very next ball, as Irfan Pathan angled the ball across and gave him enough width to encourage the shot.

Kamran fell into the trap as he slashed the delivery straight into the hands of Suresh Raina, who ran straight to the skipper suggesting through his body language that the plan has worked. Pakistan was bowled out for 161 in this match and India chased it down under 33 overs. India went on to win the 5-match ODI series by a 4-1 margin.
